Charles Darwin’s revolutionary ideas of Evolution materialised mostly in the waters of the oceans of Ecuador.

However, Darwin is said to have said that his contemplation of the vertebrate eye sent shivers down his spine.

The question is, how could an eye possibly evolve? Either it worked or it didn’t! It must have sprung from the gene pool fully operative. It leaves scientists faced with there being a ‘designer’ – a God if you will.

Centuries after Darwin, scientists, scanning the paleolithic fossil layers, confirmed that at a precise level marine anthropods, known as trilobites appeared with primitive eyes. Does that mean that until that time no living being could see the surroundings.
